在阳光明媚的日子里，纽约街头宁静的一隅，梅可和乔（渡边明乃 配音）正在讨论该给即将过生日的夏丽送什么样礼物的问题。这时一位老太太前来求助，希望她们帮忙拯救困在树上的猫。两人顺利救下小猫，并刚好得到钱买到礼物。她们来到警察局，找到当初好心收养了夏丽的黑人警察萨姆，却得知不久前纽约市出现了一个无差别连环杀人凶手，这个死人一样狰狞的家伙伤害了数条人命，其中包括天真无邪的夏丽。面对仍徘徊在死亡线上的女孩，乔和梅可义愤填膺，萨姆似乎知晓对方的真实身份，但是因为有政府不可告人的黑幕存在，他空有悲愤却掣手掣脚。 未过多久，连梅可也宣告失踪……
